Making Content for 2 Birds With One Stone

I realized at some point that I enjoy teaching others and sharing my passions with a community. This thought lead me to coaching in a Video Game called Team Fight Tactics(TFT for short) which taught me how to stream on Twitch, helped me get into writing articles for a major Esports organization, and even casting events and making content! There’s a great video from a channel called NihongoGamer (which you can check out by clicking their name) that talks about investing into your interests and going down these sorts of rabbit holes like coffee making, gaming and more. This sort of phenomena is what lead me into all of the learnings and struggles with trying to compete and make a name for myself in TFT. While I had some success like becoming one of the top 150 players in the country, having Reddit posts reach 10’000s of users, and making connections and doing well in amateur competitions, I hit a wall.

The wall wasn’t necessarily a plateau in terms of skill or what to do with my small brand, but rather a realization. I quickly saw flaws with competing in the game, and realized that going so deep into this hobby had turned it into a job almost. My ego was involved and I felt stuck. I knew I had this potential and wanted to capitalize on it, but I know longer enjoyed the game and was only holding on due to expectations and community. I was hoping that the game would change and recapture my joy and excitement for improvement, but the same problems that turned me off never went away. So did the months of time and investment mean nothing?

I learned more about myself and what I enjoy and dislike. I started playing other games and have been trying to make content with them to not only get better at my own marketing and video editing skills, but because it’s fun and for a game I enjoy and want to grow with others. I have ideas I want to expand upon and skills I need to develop for them and hopefully I can communicate those here. For anyone who read this, I hope this tells you a little about me and shows that maybe we have shared experiences and others are out there, still trying to figure out their purpose.
